Speed Project

Who we are – The SPEED Project

The SPEED Project (Improving Nigeria's Capacity to Use Data on Registered Stillbirths for Decision-making & Planning) is an initiative led by the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) through its International Research Center of Excellence (IRCE). The project is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies Data for Health & Vital Strategies Program and spans from September 2023 to March 2025.

We are a dedicated team of health experts, researchers, policymakers, and advocates committed to strengthening Nigeria’s capacity to collect, analyze, and utilize stillbirth data for informed decision-making. Our goal is to support evidence-based interventions and policy changes aimed at reducing stillbirth rates and improving maternal and child health outcomes.

Through collaboration with government agencies, healthcare institutions, civil society organizations, and international partners, we are driving efforts to make stillbirth data accessible, visible, and actionable for sustainable healthcare improvements in Nigeria.

This tool showcases stillbirth trends from 2014 -2023, and other indicators.
